ACA Best Practices: Annual Health Care Reporting & Strategic Employee Communications (Form 1095-C)

The Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) Employer Shared Responsibility provisions are in effect for Applicable Large Employer (ALE) and Annual Health Care Reporting is undoubtedly on your radar. Beginning in 2016, ALEs have to begin filing annual information reports 1094-C and 1095-C with the IRS documenting that they have complied with Section 4980H of the Internal Revenue Code.The data elements required for this purpose are many and should be stored and maintained by the employer – employers are subject to audit by the IRS, and this data will be critical in disputing incorrect penalty assessments under the ACA.Additionally, since this is the first year your full-time employees will be receiving a Form 1095-C, a communications plan will be the key to your success.
