e-Filers Take Note: IRS e-Help Desk Reduces Service Hours Leading Up to Tax Deadline

Help DeskWith the April 15 tax deadline looming, corporate tax filers, including those in accounting, finance and HR departments, should take notice of a change to the IRS’s e-Help Desk service for 2015.

Through April 17, 2015, the IRS e-Help Desk service will no longer be available for extended weekday hours or Saturday service. Services will only be available Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. CT.  According to the IRS, the reduction in hours is due to budget restrictions1.

In case you’re unfamiliar with it, the IRS e-Help Desk is a resource the IRS provides to assist tax professionals, certified public accountants and others with non-account related questions and issues concerning IRS e-products, including Individual and Business e-file, Electronic Federal Tax Payment System® (EFTPS), System for Award Management (SAM) and more.
